White Elephant Nantucket

The White Elephant resort on Nantucket, operating for over a century, recently celebrated its 100th season with renovations and a refreshed look. The Harborside Hotel, conveniently located near town, now features a prominent 16-foot painting by artist Orit Fuchs depicting a woman rowing past the hotel. Known affectionately as "Elizabeth," after the resort's founder, this artwork is part of a new collection curated by New York-based art consultant Emily Santangelo. The resort's redesign, led by designer Elizabeth Lowrey of Elkus Manfredi Architects, draws inspiration from Nantucket's natural beauty and maritime history, aiming to immerse guests in an authentic island experience.
